Buying a blu-Ray does'mt mean you have to get rid of your DVDs.It can play DVDs but it can also play new movies with uncompressed sound.Also you can fit several movies into one disc if you have a blu ray burner.Besides,Blu-Ray is becoming the standard.There is no way to stop that.

America is a strong market but Japan and Europe are responding well to Blu-Ray.Besides this is the next format so it would take quite awhile before it becomes standard.CDs came out in the 80s but were'nt fully standard until the 90s.
